The Siobhanathon. What's it all about?
Well, my bud Gary and I decided to try and raise a few quid for the kids of fellow bikers who have had a hard time with illness. It started with Siobhan (hence the name) or Chevie, as we knew her.

Sadly, Chevie died this year on her 9th birthday, her little body could take no more of the chemo and pain that cancer laid upon her. Losing her has spurned Gary and I on to try and make this fund raising project a success. but with any rally, it's only ever as good as the crowd make it. This is our second year, and we hope it will be even better than last year's party.

If we can raise £1500 for the nominated child, it will help to give them and their family a little respite from the pressures, pains and problems that cancer brings.

This year, the child is a wee girl called Leah Wilby. Leah has just entered remission from a gruelling 2 year battle against her cancer. We hope she has beaten it, and we hope to raise enough cash to send her and her family to Alton Towers for the weekend.

The whole project has become a memorial to our sweet Chevie, who we miss with all our hearts. Not a day goes by when my heart doesn't ache to see her smile just one more time. But Chev is always with me, and her spirit drives us all on to make the Siobhanathon a weekend we can all remember.

So, please come along and support the fund, and do your bit to give Leah the break she so rightfully deserves.

Many Thanks, Juke

A very worthy cause
Heroes Run
Dean Owen, who is a former regular soldier and now TA soldier, is set to Rev-up for the traditional Lands End to John O'Groats Journey.
However, the Journey will be conducted over a week, raising money for the Royal Navy Benevolent Trust, Army, RAF and Police Service Benevolent Funds with the request that the money goes towards children who have lost their Mum or Dad in the line of duty.

Dean Owen who now serves with 116 Provost Company RMP (Manchester Detachment) and who is also a fulltime Police Officer with Merseyside Police is set to do the ride with a small number of other veterans whose service includes the Falklands Conflict, Northern Ireland, Cyprus, Bosnia, Yugoslavia and Germany.
The team outriders are also novices and only hold CBT certificates.

Dean of St. Helens Merseyside, states
"The bikes we are using are 125cc motorcycle Jinlun cruisers and Screamin Beagles Motorcycle imports from Tamworth have kindly donated a motorcycle that we will be using and of which will be raffled at the end of the ride, every biker that I have spoken to thinks I'm mad"
The demanding run is just over 1000 miles and it is expected that the ride will take us about a week to complete with the team setting off from Lands End on August the 29th.

The route will see them cruise north on A roads via military establishments where they hope to collect more funds.

Dean adds:
"As ex soldiers we understand the importance of supporting the British Service Personnel at all times regardless of the Politics"

"I just hope the people who read this magazine will get behind us because we want to raise as much money as possible to ensure that families are not left unsupported following the loss of a partner or parent".

If you can offer anything to the HEROS RUN team whether it be equipment for the ride or prizes for the raffle then please contact Dean via email at:- dean@herosrun.co.uk
